Purpose

The Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education grants authorized under section 243 of WIOA was amended to include workforce preparation activities, such as pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs, as allowable activities. Goals: Assist adults to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and economic self-sufficiency, and assist adults in attaining a secondary school diploma and in the transition to postsecondary education and training, including through career pathways
