Improve access to training and employment opportunities for women, non-binary and underserved populations within the building and construction trades.
Purpose
The funds from this grant will go towards supportive resources for childcare and outreach and community building for women, non-binary and underserved populations.The supportive resources for childcare will go to DAS-registered construction pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs that are hiring parents with childcare challenges. Money can be used to support stipends intended to pay for childcare, or to cover the cost of childcare coordination or in-house childcare for the families of the participants.
Eligible to Access Funding
- Community-based organizations,local education agencies, workforce boards, unions, and other equity-focused organizations affiliated with DAS-registered construction pre-apprenticeship or apprenticeship programs that hire apprentices with childcare challenges. Applicants must demonstrate, within the past four years, either (1) operation of at least two pre-apprenticeship or apprenticeship cohorts centered on equity and inclusion in the construction industry, or (2) experience marketing, recruiting, or advocating for women or non-binary individuals in state-registered construction pre-apprenticeship or apprenticeship programs.
