The Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration awarded more than $99 million in State Apprenticeship Expansion, Equity, and Innovation (SAEEI) grants. The California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR), Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS) recently received $10M grant funding under the SAEEI grant, which will deliver at least 1,500 new apprentices with diversity, inclusion, and equity as a key strategy. The DAS equity goals include serving at least 60% people of color, 40% women, 10% people with disabilities, and justice-involved. DAS will partner with key apprenticeship stakeholders such as Local Workforce Development Boards, apprenticeship intermediaries, local education agencies, employer partners, and other California state agencies to achieve these goals.
